Golf courses in Javea and the Costa Blanca

The Costa Blanca is a paradise for golf lovers with 21 courses, including 3 pitch and putt, several of which were designed by some of the most famous names to grace the game. With most of the courses situated along the coast, you can make the most of the warm Mediterranean climate and hit the fairways all year round.

If you fly to Alicante or Valencia airports then you have quite an array of nice golf clubs to choose from. Below is just a selection of some of our favourite golf courses in Javea and the Costa Blanca.  

La Sella Golf 

Located on the outskirts of Javea and Denia, this 27-hole gem is the work of the great José Maria Olazabal. Built in three 9-hole pitches between 1990 and 2010, the La Sella golf course has hosted the Ladies European Tour on four occasions. This impressive course dotted with pine, almond and carob trees, boasts wonderful views of the mountains and the Mediterranean. 

You can decide between our 3 different courses. The ‘Llebeig’ is a south oriented 9-hole course surrounded by beautiful pine trees and with the mighty views of the Montgó always present. The ‘Gregal’ is a flatter 9-hole course with challenging water hazards or there is the ‘Mestral’ - a north oriented 9-hole course, whose elevations provide remarkable sea views.

Created in 1992 by the Spanish legend Severiano Ballesteros, the Oliva Nova links course is spread over 50 hectares. The course is located in a huge residential complex, meaning it is surrounded by homes, but it is nonetheless incredibly attractive. Water is constantly at play on this highly technical 18-hole course that alternates between short holes and much longer holes. Only holes 1, 2, 13 and 14 are free of water hazards but the wind remains a very important element throughout the course. 

The course was designed by Francisco Moreno and opened in 1981. Situated 100 kilometres from Alicante in the direction of Valencia, and sheltered from the wind by Cape San Antonio, the course has a perfect microclimate all year round and is located in a wonderful natural setting, surrounded by pinewoods.

Javea Golf Club is a gently sloping 9-hole course with well-maintained greens and fairways flanked by palm trees, pine trees and orange trees. Although it has only 9-holes, on the second time around or back nine, many of the holes are played from different tees making it virtually an 18-hole course. Also, the 4th/13th green is large enough to accommodate two separate pin positions for each hole.

The 6th presents difficulties, a par 4 with splendid views from a plateau green requiring a safe and precise drive to the dogleg. The 120 metre 16th is the shortest hole and the 475 metre 5th is the longest.

Although it is not very long, it is certainly challenging as it is plagued by bunkers nearly all the way around - 34 in total, and all of the greens have subtle runs, many of which are difficult to read.

A golf course with magnificent views in which you can improve your handicap, in addition to enjoying a perfect combination of nature and sport.

Hidden away on the lower slopes of the Sierra Bernia mountain, close to the village of Altea la Vella and only 15 minutes from Benidorm and Calpe, is the oldest and one of the most picturesque golf courses on the Costa Blanca. It is characterised by the stunning mountain and sea views and a beautiful restaurant and terrace. 

Altea Club de Golf is a par 72 course which can be played as 9 or 18 holes and is a good test for all levels of golfer. Guests and visiting golf societies are welcome.
