Water sports in Javea, Spain
If you love water sports and have moved to the Javea area to spend time on the sea, you are in for a treat! Javea has exceptional water sports facilities.
Javea has much more to offer than the sun, sea, sand, cafes, restaurants, and blue skies… It is a centre for everything related to water sports, one of the reasons Javea is popular with tourists all year round. Here, you will find a water sport for any age, level, and skill.

The beaches here are strung together along the coast between two headlands, the northern Cabo de San Antonio and the southern beach bay Cala Granadella.
Water sports here include scuba diving, jet-skiing, kayaking, kite surfing, sailing, water skiing, fishing, wakeboarding, and many more. If you head to the sandy beach called Arenal, there are numerous rental huts and plenty of teachers ready to give lessons to those who aren’t too confident on the water. It would be easy to spend your entire holiday on the beach!
Sailing is very popular in the area, with fabulous coastal views to enjoy. But if you’re not a keen sailor, hop on board a boat for an organised day trip around the coast to Denia or even across to the Island of Ibiza and Formentera. Nothing is better than relaxing on the sea, enjoying the beautiful weather and the views back towards the coast. The coast is also an excellent place for windsurfing, and with award-winning beaches in the area, such as Oliva, it’s no wonder so many people come to surf here. With all equipment available to rent from the beach it is easy to make a day of it.

The Mediterranean Sea is also a great place to go deep-sea fishing. Fishing charters are available from various companies, and they provide everything you need for a day out at sea. There are many different fish to see, although the most sought after is the swordfish. If fishing and active water sports aren’t your thing, then why not try your hand at snorkelling; with an abundance of beautiful marine life to be seen, you’d better make sure you take an underwater camera! On rare, special occasions, whales and dolphins can be spotted off the coast of Javea at Cabo de San Antonio, too, so keep your eyes peeled and your camera ready.
Although Javea is well known for its status as a water sports centre, it is first and foremost a fishing town and an ancient one at that, with many exciting and interesting things to do. To find out more about activities in Javea read more here at the Alta Villas Blog.
