Golden Visa Spain
Buying a property in Spain is even more attractive thanks to the Golden Visa scheme, and particularly now since Portugal and Ireland have cancelled their residency-by-invesment visa programmes.
Research shows that worldwide Google searches related to Golden Visas in Spain increased 68% between March and April.
*There are currently 7500 active Golden Visa residency permits in Spain, with 2462 issued last year, the third biggest number on record since the Spanish residency-by-investment scheme was introduced in 2013, behind only 2656 in 2019 and 2507 in 2021. One investor can apply for multiple residency permits for family members and dependants.
The Spanish government says that it plans to reconsider the scheme, perhaps increase the 500.000 € threshold to 1M €, but is not in any hurry.
We expect some things will change politically in the future but, for now, it is still an optimum time to sell or buy property in Spain.
