THE STORY SO FAR
Alta Villas is an independent real estate agency based in Jávea on the Costa Blanca in Spain. With an office situated on the main beach road on the Arenal in Jávea and with a friendly, professional, multi-lingual team, Alta Villas is the ideal estate agent to assist property owners and seekers alike with their property requirements, incorporating property sales, long term rentals and property management services. Owned and managed by UK ex-pat, Julie Jones, the key aim of the company is to help anyone interested in buying, selling or renting a property in the Jávea area achieve their goals with as little stress and effort as possible. The team understands that the process of buying, selling or renting can be quite daunting for their clients but, for them it is their everyday job and they love it!
Julie and her family moved to Jávea in 2008. Like many families who emigrate, Julie did not realise quite how difficult it would be to settle abroad and, although she had researched the move exhaustively online, she made quite a few poor decisions and choices initially. This is why, as well as helping clients buy or rent properties in the Jávea area, the team at Alta Villas will always try to help clients with honest, practical advice on all aspects of life in the Jávea area if that is what is requested. Julie comments:
Julie Jones, Alta Villas “After living in Spain for several years now, I am still learning new things. Things like who I can trust to give a good service for a reasonable price; how we can help people to get the kids’ schooling sorted out, where we can go to for good legal and financial advice, etc. My children were educated in the Spanish system, via home-tutoring and also through International school and so I understand the drawbacks and benefits of each. I never expected it to be easy emigrating to a foreign country, but I did learn the hard way about a lot of things. It is a lot easier now for people to make informed choices via the internet and social media groups but I feel you can’t do better than build up a good relationship with someone local who is willing and able to give good honest advice, and that is exactly what our team at Alta Villas do.
Another thing that has changed is the market, when I arrived in Spain in 2008 the sales market was in decline and the long term rentals market was very buoyant but now the sales market is more buoyant and good long term rentals properties are becoming very difficult to find. It used to be that I would advise people to “try before they buy” and take a rental, but now I tend to urge people intending to purchase one day not to leave it too long because the bargains are dwindling and prices will increase, especially in the Javea area.
I feel really lucky to be living in Spain, particularly in Jávea which, for me, is absolutely perfect. I also consider myself fortunate that I could set up and keep running Alta Villas in what have been quite tough times. We are not a big agency, but we are honest and friendly, genuinely want to help property owners and seekers achieve their goals in any way we can.
